Korra's legend by myooomy Korra's legend by myooomy
Hey y'all, hope you're doing good.

I want you all to meet not-lazy me. This was drawn by her although lazy me kicked in a couple of times.. I'm very tired yes.
Hm.. i don't really know what to say about this.. I suppose it speaks for itself..

This picture took me quite a long time to draw.. I was done the lineart when Lin lost her bending and i thought: crap, what am I gona do with her? Then I wasn't sure if i should put asami in the drawing 'cause i thought she would go evil.. That's why she's waayyy up there next to amon.. just in case.

Anyways, I hope you like it. Commenting would be highly appreciated!!

I might edit it a bit more later.

Tools:
Sai,
Photoshop ( only for the text )

Time: a week or so.

The very essence of each character is captured so well... and for that alone I give you 4/5.
Plus the superb design: 5/5
Well done! :D

It looks very nice! I had to look for a decent amount of time to find something worth mentioning, but I think since it's a cartoon style, you could push the colors of the folds in their clothes to be more vibrant. Unless that seems too much, adding some brighter highlights could fix the kind of flattening problem. It's all about values~
The colors on Mako's fires look good, and the air and electricity look good. I think the fire looks a bit like orange hair and Bo Lin's rocks look like chocolate cake. .___.
I think studying paws would be good too for improving Naga's anatomy. Otherwise, it looks really believable! The overlapping elements really add to depth and the fact that all of the white space is gone makes me happy! Their facial expressions and likenesses are spot on too, so keep up the good work! ^^

Aha! I knew I saw it before! XD I just had forgotten to fav it.

Wait, where are my manners? XD silly me.

Hi! I was at Otakuthon today (Saturday the 4th of August). I bought this print. I was the one who asked you how long have you been drawing and I said that your art is very nice. I think I was wearing a red t-shirt with Pabu that said "Fire Ferrets" on it (you even gave me a 2 dollar discount on the print XD)

I'm really glad to have met an awesome artist like you! Keep up the good work :D

I love this show! Great composition and pretty good poster too! ;-)

The only problem I would see is a little lack of contrast with the shadows. I think you could make it a lot more readable by working with harder shadows and some rimlight! ;-)

and yes, after letting this rest for a couple of weeks, i noticed that :/
thanks for the advice tho! ^^
I will definitely look into that next time, I'm just shy with shadows :P

You should not! ;-) Try to use a reference! Also, can I suggest you to start from a gray backgound?

Try this :

1) Start from a gray background
2) Draw only the shadows (in balck)
3) Add some texture. You can use almost everything in a multiply mode. I strongly suggest you to use something that will looks like if you sprayed paint on a paper with a tooth brush. (I don't know if this description is clear, so just in case, here's an example : [link] )
4) Add the color. You can use an overlay or a color blending mode for this. Just work in flat color here!
5) Now it is done, add the light in normal blend mode. It is on this step that you'll improve everything! ;-)

Here, the use of the texture in multiply is used to blend all the shaddow togetter and get a uniform result for the color! You can also use it to make some parts darker or more textured, use whight spray on other parts to add some contrasts, but the important is to blend all the shadow work!

It is, if you whant, a numeric version of a technic I learn from the great master Drew Struzan... You know the guy who made all the Star Wars Posters, the fist Harry Potter, the Indiana Jones, etc. Well, it is a bit like this he's working but with traditionnal material! ;-)

I hope it will help you! ;-)
